LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - A standoff that closed off a section of a quiet north Laredo neighborhood has ended peacefully, with authorities shedding light on the sequence of events leading to the arrest of 34-year-old Padriac Andrew Bello.
Erica Solis, a resident in the area, described the chaotic scene on Thursday night, June 13, when law enforcement flooded the 300 block of Appleby Court and Plantation Drive. “This is a pretty safe neighborhood; we’ve never had issues,” Solis remarked, reflecting the community’s shock over the incident.
“At about 9 p.m., we were informed by one of our neighbors that something was going on outside, and we were advised not to go outside,” Solis recounted, emphasizing the unexpected disruption.
Laredo Police provided more details on Friday, June 14, revealing that the incident began earlier at 7 p..m. near the 6500 block of Polaris Drive. According to Jose Espinoza of the Laredo Police Department, they received reports of an armed male individual who had entered a business and allegedly threatened four people before leaving the area.

Despite the tense situation, Solis expressed gratitude that police handled the incident without anyone getting hurt. “It’s concerning, but unfortunately, these things happen,” Solis said, reassuringly adding, “This neighborhood is pretty safe.”

Padriac Andrew Bello, 34, was arrested and charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, interfering with an emergency call, and criminal mischief.
On Thursday, June 13, at about 7 p.m., officers responded to a call about a man with a gun at 6500 Polaris Drive. The caller said Bello had entered a business and threatened four family members with a weapon before running away.
Officers tried to find Bello at three different places but could not locate him. Soon after, they found Bello’s vehicle parked behind his home, which was under construction at the 3000 block of Appleby Court.
Officers say they saw Bello inside the house and ordered him to come out, but he refused. LPD Negotiators, SWAT team members, and the Mental Health Unit were called to the scene. After hours of talks, police say Bello came out of the house but went back in again. SWAT then entered the house and arrested him. A handgun was found inside, according to police.
