LAREDO, Tx. (KGNS) - Some residents in the Laredo-Webb County area are without power following a thunderstorm that knocked out power.
According to the AEP website there are a total over 2,000 customer outages in the Webb county.
Some of the areas included Mines Road, International, Regency, Las Lomas and Heritage Park.
Crews are aware of the outages and working to restore power.

LAREDO, TX. (KGNS) - A former UISD special education teacher is accused of assaulting a student.
According to an affidavit, the man denies committing such an act.
According to a requested affidavit, on March 3, a United I.S.D. Criminal Investigator received a call about an incident at the Step Academy where a student complained about a special ed teacher who allegedly made inappropriate physical contact.
In the affidavit, it mentions Alvin Alvarez, 49, allegedly held a student against a wall, before pinning him against a table, as well as other unsolicited activities.
During the investigation, the district’s investigator met with the student’s father, who told the investigator he wanted to file a complaint against the teacher.
The student allegedly told his parents, he was assaulted by the teacher for, “No apparent reason”.
Alvarez was interviewed by the district’s human resources department.
He denied the student’s accusation.
However, Alvarez was charged with committing assault and causing bodily injuries.
He was issued a bond over $5,000 where he was booked on April 12 at the Webb County Jail and released on the same day.
UISD said the district placed Alvarez on administrative leave, but he later submitted his resignation to the school district.

LAREDO, Tx (KGNS) - Laredo Police discover a suspect inside a trash can after a short chase near downtown Laredo.
According to Laredo Police, a call about suspicious activity near Santa Ursula Avenue and Madison Street came in a little after midnight.
The caller gave authorities a vehicle description, and shortly after, a black Chrysler 300, matching the description was spotted driving north on I-35.
Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop but a chase ensued.
Police stopped the pursuit after the Chrysler exited on Shiloh and drove into a neighborhood.
Soon after, another officer spotted the vehicle near Sanders and Ryan Street.
Investigator Joe Baeza said that an officer saw that the vehicle had crashed into a parked car and that the driver was seen exiting a window and then fled into a neighborhood.
Officers set up a perimeter in the area and after a couple of moments they were able to find the driver inside a Willie Bote trashcan.
Francisco Fuentes, 35, was arrested and taken to the Webb County Jail.
Fuentes had multiple warrants pending, all for failure to appear in court.
He was charged with evading arrest with a motor vehicle, evading on foot and for leaving a car unattended after a crash.

LAREDO, TX. (KGNS) - A Laredo man is dead after a hit and run accident early Friday morning.
Now authorities are working to find the driver who police say left the scene leaving the victim to die.
The incident happened shortly after 6 a.m. at the corner of San Dario and Lafayette in Central Laredo.
Police say a man was trying to cross the street which is when he was allegedly hit by an unidentified driver.
The man died at the scene from his injuries.
The LPD Crash Team is trying to figure out exactly what happened but they’re hoping to get a break in the case as they gather witness statements and surveillance videos from the area.
The man has been identified as a 76-year-old man.
Police are asking if anyone saw the accident or knows who may have been behind the wheel of the car to contact Laredo Police at 956-795-2800.
More charges could come as a result of the police investigation.
LAREDO, Tx. (KGNS) - Several Laredo Police officers are seen at a grocery store parking lot in north Laredo Thursday night.
It happened at around 10 p.m. at the H-E-B on San Dario and Del Mar.
People say this might be related to a potential hit and run or maybe a road rage incident.
